Improving accessibility for the National Portrait Gallery

With the help of one of our corporate partners, Contacta Systems Ltd – a global leader in assistive listening installations – we’ve helped the National Portrait Gallery become more accessible through installing new hearing loop systems.

Greater accessibility in sound systems with Sonos

RNID partnered with Sonos to support the development of its new Speech Enhancement feature – an AI-powered tool designed to make dialogue in TV and films clearer for people with hearing loss.

We facilitated workshops with our research panel to help Sonos understand user needs and create a more inclusive product.

Improving air travel accessibility with Virgin Atlantic

Virgin Atlantic approached RNID to help improve the travel experience for deaf customers and those with hearing loss. We supported by sharing research insights which revealed key barriers to accessible air travel.

The findings shaped a campaign featuring deaf public figures and BSL-trained crew, showcasing how inclusive practices can make a real difference.

Improving product accessibility: the Couch to 5K app

RNID was approached to support Zoonou and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to help make the popular running app, NHS Couch to 5K, more inclusive and accessible for people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus.

We worked with our communities to ensure the improvements would meet their needs.

Haptic shirts for deaf Newcastle United fans and Sela

Newcastle United’s front-of-shirt sponsor Sela is introducing groundbreaking haptic shirts that will enable deaf fans to feel the atmosphere of live football matches.
