Employment: evidence pack

There are 9 million working-age people in the UK who have some degree of hearing loss. They’re less likely to be employed than the general population, and they face barriers to equality in the workplace.

We’ve reviewed the published research, gathered stories of lived experience, conducted original social research, and set out the changes we want to see.

RNID storyteller, Jack, stands outdoors on his town highstreet. He wears a thick winter coat with faux fur around the hood.

Why inclusion at work matters

“When people take the time to ensure I’m included, it eases my anxiety – that awareness makes all the difference.”
