Voting in UK elections

Elections are your chance to make sure the issues that matter to you are taken seriously by the elected people who represent you.

Elected people making decisions about education or health care may not understand what it’s like to be deaf or have hearing loss. The deaf community are also not well represented in elections, so the voices of deaf people are not being heard in politics.

Your voice matters. And voting is quick and simple.

Step 1

Before you can vote in the UK you need to be on the electoral register. This is the names and addresses of everyone who is registered to vote.

Step 2

Ways to vote

When you are registered to vote, you can choose to vote in person, by post, or by proxy (someone votes for you).

You need to apply to vote by post or by proxy.
