GN Hearing

We are delighted to be working with GN Hearing on a project to improve accessibility in theatres through the development of Auracast for Theatres playbook, launching soon.

Since June 2026, with the support of GN Hearing, we have been collaborating with theatres, accessibility professionals and people with hearing loss to explore how Auracast can enhance the live entertainment experience and help venues become more inclusive.

About GN Hearing

In 2023, GN was the first company to introduce an Auracast-enabled hearing aid, reflecting its belief that accessibility should be a shared standard, not a privilege. Auracast has since been included as standard in all new ReSound and Beltone hearing aids.

Key successes so far

Together, we have created a Playbook that offers practical, evidence-based guidance to help theatres understand, implement and maximise the benefits of Auracast technology for audiences with hearing loss. The Playbook also helps theatre staff learn how to create a whole customer journey that is deaf aware.

Researching the needs of theatres

We are engaging Theatre Accessibility Managers and venue representatives to understand current levels of awareness, confidence and knowledge around Auracast. Through focus groups and stakeholder engagement, we are identifying the practical support theatres need to adopt this technology successfully.

Testing Auracast in real settings

Working with theatres that already have Auracast installed, we are gathering feedback from users and venues to understand how the technology performs in live environments. This testing helps identify both opportunities and challenges, ensuring the guidance is grounded in real-world experience.

Developing the Auracast Theatres Playbook

Insights from research, testing and evaluation are being used to create a practical playbook for theatres (launching soon). The final resource will provide clear recommendations, best practice guidance and lessons learned to support venues at different stages of their accessibility journey.

Sharing learning across the sector

Through the Playbook, we and GN are sharing our research findings across the theatre and accessibility sectors to help more venues understand the potential of Auracast and improve access for audiences with hearing loss.
