TCS London Marathon charity place terms and conditions

Before applying for an RNID charity place in the TCS London Marathon 2027, you must read and agree to the terms below. These terms form a fundraising agreement between you and RNID.

RNID may update these terms at any time. Please check this page regularly for changes.

About the event

The TCS London Marathon is organised by London Marathon Events Ltd, not RNID.

All participants must also agree to the event organiser’s terms and conditions when completing their official registration (whether you secure a ballot or charity place).

You agree that your registration details may be shared with TCS London Marathon and their registration platform (“Let’s Do This”) to provide essential race information. Their privacy policy will apply to this data.

Registration

  • If your application is successful, you must pay a £65 registration fee within seven days of accepting your place
  • The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, and does not count towards your fundraising total
  • Charity places cannot be transferred to another person or event
  • You must complete registration with London Marathon Events Ltd by their deadline. Failure to do so will result in forfeiting your place

Fundraising commitment

By accepting a charity place, you agree to:

  • raise a minimum of £2,500 (excluding Gift Aid) for RNID
  • pay in all funds raised (online and offline) within four weeks of the event (by 23 May 2027)
  • aim to exceed the minimum fundraising target wherever possible

Fundraising milestones

You must meet the following milestones:

  • Before 31 October sign-ups: Raise at least 35% (£875) by end of December
  • After 31 October sign-ups: Raise at least 25% (£625) within eight weeks of registering
  • After 1 January 2027 sign-ups: Raise 25% by 28 February 2027
  • All charity runners: Raise at least 80% (£2,000) by race day

RNID reserves the right to withdraw your place if you do not demonstrate reasonable commitment to meeting your fundraising pledge.

Fundraising responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use only lawful methods to raise funds and avoid any activity that could harm RNID’s reputation
  • Follow RNID’s fundraising guidance
  • Make it clear to supporters that you are fundraising “in aid of RNID”
  • Use only official RNID sponsorship forms
  • Submit completed sponsorship forms (including donor names, addresses and amounts) within four weeks of the event

If you withdraw from the event and are unable to defer, all funds raised will be treated as donations to RNID and are non-refundable.

Age requirement

You must be 18 years or older on race day to participate.

Health and safety

  • You are responsible for ensuring you are medically fit to take part. If unsure, consult your GP before registering
  • Any relevant medical conditions should be disclosed to the event organiser
  • Participation is at your own risk. You must follow all safety instructions and training guidance

RNID is not the event organiser and cannot be held liable for injury, illness, loss or damage arising from training or participation, except where liability cannot legally be excluded (including death or personal injury caused by negligence).

You must notify RNID as soon as possible, and within seven days, if an incident prevents you from taking part.

Deferrals

Charity place deferrals are at RNID’s discretion and are not guaranteed.

If you are unable to take part in 2027, contact [email protected] as soon as possible.

Ballot place runners must contact TCS London Marathon directly regarding deferrals.

Photos, video, audio recordings and quotes captured on event day may be used by RNID to promote future events and inspire supporters.
