Perhaps you are one of them, or you have a loved one who is part of our community. Whatever your reason for hosting an event, your commitment to raising awareness and much-needed funds has not gone unnoticed and we are very grateful for your support.
Keep your ears safe, dial down the decibels, and crank up your style at your Look LOUD! dress-up day.

Why hold a Look LOUD! dress-up day?
People who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus are cut off by society every day.
Their needs are not being met, people’s attitudes towards them are often negative and not enough money is spent on research.
At RNID, we believe in aworld without barriers for deaf people – and you can help.
How will my Look LOUD! event help?
It might seem small, but when you wear your boldest and brightest clothes for a LookLOUD! dress-up day, you are starting a conversation – and it has to start somewhere.
You are helping to break down the barriers that our communities face, as well as raising awareness and much-needed funds that will go towards our work to make the world more inclusive.
- £10 could cover the cost of five people taking the RNID hearing check. Our freeservice has so far helped over 450,000 people to look after their hearing health.
- £25 could pay for essential laboratory equipment to aid in a biomedical researchproject aiming to discover a treatment for tinnitus.
- £50 could pay for two hours of a Contact RNID Coordinator’s time, offering life-changing information to the people who need it.
- £100 could pay for 80 minutes with Sign Live, an invaluable communication toolwhich allows BSL users to contact RNID using an interpreter.
- £250 could pay for one member of staff to receive Samaritans training. Thisspecialist training enables staff to deliver life-saving support to people in crisis.

Dress to impress and listen smart
But just like you can dress to impress at your Look LOUD! event, you can also listen smart when you’re out having fun.
So, whether you’re rocking your boldest outfit at a festival or wearing your brightest leggings whilst working out to music, don’t forget to protect your hearing. Turn the volume down, take breaks, or wear earplugs – these simple steps will make a big difference.
Did you know?
Experts agree that exposure to noise at or above 85 decibels (like loud music or noisy environments) can harm the cells in your ears.
This can lead to hearing loss or a ringing in the ears known as tinnitus.
