A memorable moment for #TeamRNID at TCS London Marathon

On Sunday 26 April, an incredible team of 25 runners blew us away at the 2026 TCS London Marathon. Their determination, enthusiasm and positivity was inspirational, and each RNID runner, spectator, and volunteer was taken on an emotional journey that ended in well-earned celebration.

Why our runners chose RNID

Our team of dedicated runners raised an amazing £70,000 – with more money still to come. Every donation will make a huge difference to people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus.

One of our amazing runners, Max Barker, told us why he decided to run for RNID:

I have tinnitus, so I have a personal connection to the charity. But alongside that, my mum has severe hearing loss – it was great to run it for her as well, and to help raise money to support other people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus.”

The cheer team powering our runners

We are so grateful for the wonderful team of RNID staff, volunteers and family members who joined in the excitement of the day to support our amazing runners. The energy of the crowd makes a huge difference to every runner who passes, and we are particularly proud of everyone who came to support team RNID.

It was a beautiful sunny day in London, with clear blue skies and temperatures reaching 19 degrees – perfect for spectators! We had dedicated cheer points at Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf and Embankment – here volunteers gathered to shout and cheer on every single one of the RNID team.

Stacey Worboys, a London Marathon cheer crew volunteer, shares her experience:

Being at the London Marathon as a volunteer is always the highlight to look forward to after the coldness of the beginning of the year.

Even though I end up losing my voice after cheering on every runner who comes past and extra loudly for our RNID runners, it is always worth it”.

Celebrating at the finish line

After the race, we invited the runners and their friends and family to our celebratory post-race reception. This was a chance for each runner to show off their medal, pose for photos, have a massage, and relax after an exhausting run with food and bubbly.

The atmosphere was exhilarating and everyone was buzzing as we caught up with runners and celebrated their hard work and incredible achievement.

Claire Hemingway, who ran the 26.2 miles for RNID, said:

Crossing the finish line is epic. It’s an unbelievable experience and one I’ll never forget.

If you’re thinking about signing up for the marathon next year, just sign up. It’s such a worthy cause. The support you get is unbelievable throughout the entire process, and that’s really motivating”.

Thank you to everyone who took part in, or supported #TeamRNID at the TCS London Marathon 2026. You should all be incredibly proud of your achievement, and for supporting people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus.
