A team of 40 runners completely blew us away on Sunday at the 2025 TCS London Marathon with their strength, enthusiasm and positivity.
It was an inspirational and emotional day. Our team of amazing runners outdid themselves by raising an incredible £118,000 with more money yet to come in. The donations they have worked hard to raise will go to helping people who are deaf have hearing loss or tinnitus.
One of our incredible runners, Georgia, told us why she decided to run for RNID:
“I wanted to run for a charity that was personal to me and raise awareness of hearing loss. I have low-frequency hearing loss and started wearing my hearing aids again during my training. It made a real difference, and it also sparked so many conversations with friends who didn’t know about my hearing loss.
Training wasn’t easy, especially after picking up an injury and only managing 25km the week before. But seeing donations come through kept me motivated, and crossing the finish line despite the hot weather and a stitch most of the way felt amazing.
If you’re thinking about it – just do it! Running for RNID gave me a real sense of purpose, and I’m proud to have raised money for such a brilliant cause. In three words, I’d describe my marathon experience as: rewarding, hard, and emotional (in a good way).”
Dream team of volunteers
An amazing team of RNID Staff, volunteers and runners’ families joined in the excitement of the day to support the incredible and inspiring runners.
We had cheer points at Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf and Embankment, shouting and cheering on every one of the RNID team (and many more running for other charities too).
It was a beautiful clear day in London, a perfect day for the spectators but maybe a little too warm for the runners.
Caitlyn, a volunteer at Tower Bridge, talks about the day:

“It’s so much fun cheering on the runners for RNID. The atmosphere is amazing and everyone is in such a good mood.
If you want to join in but definitely don’t want to run a marathon, then I highly recommend volunteering. The crowd are so happy, and it’s so exciting when you see one of the RNID runners.”
RNID’s Sinéad Donoghue, Director of Fundraising, decided to celebrate her birthday by running for Team RNID. She reflected on how she celebrated on her big day:
“I loved running the London Marathon for RNID, and I got to know the team in the months beforehand and had support with training and fundraising.
Through my work I get to see the impact that RNID has for people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus every day, changing lives and helping to make the work more inclusive. This motivated me to take on a huge personal challenge…

Marathon day itself has been like nothing else, the crowds and atmosphere and camaraderie between runners is so special. I was emotional crossing the finishing line, it felt like such a once in a lifetime achievement.”
Celebrating at the finish line

After the race, we met some of the runners and their families at our celebratory post-race reception. This was a chance to show off their medals, pose for photos, have a massage and relax after an exhausting run with food and bubbly.
They deserved it after an incredible achievement.
We loved seeing so many of you at the post-race reception. We particularly enjoyed that Bethany painted her nails to match our logo!
Thank you to everyone who took part in or supported this #TeamRNID at the TCS London Marathon. You should all be so proud of your achievement and for supporting people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus.
