RNID and SignHealth are working together on a survey and would love to hear about your experiences with NHS services. Could you share your thoughts with us?

People who are deaf or have hearing loss face unnecessary barriers to communication when they visit the GP or other NHS services. We need your help to change this.
If you are deaf, or have hearing loss and live in the UK, can you spare 15 minutes to complete our survey?
We want you to share your experiences of using NHS services. How do you understand the information you are given, and do you feel you can participate in your own health decisions about your medication or treatment?
Why are RNID and SignHealth doing this survey?
The Accessible Information Standard, requires all NHS service providers to meet the communication needs of people with a disability, impairment or sensory loss.
It is vital that everybody understands the information and advice they receive from their GP or hospital.
People who are deaf or have hearing loss may find it difficult to access GP surgeries or hospital appointments when they need to, due to the lack of accessible alternatives to the telephone, poor deaf awareness amongst NHS staff, or a lack of communication support such as access to BSL interpreters.
This may lead to some people who are deaf or have hearing loss not seeking help until their condition has worsened.
The purpose of the survey
We want an up-to-date picture of what it is like to access healthcare. The information gathered from this survey will help us demonstrate to the Government and NHS providers how they can better meet the communication needs of our communities.
How long is the survey?
The survey should take around 15 minutes to complete and every question is translated into British Sign Language.
Who should complete the survey?
We would like as many deaf people, deaf BSL users and people with hearing loss to complete the survey. Please share it with your friends and family.
I have a question, who should I contact?
Please get in touch with Contact RNID if you have any questions.
