Remote training for businesses

We offer remote courses to help businesses become more accessible. If you want to learn BSL as an individual you can visit our British Sign Language page.

We are working in partnership with Signature to deliver this introduction to British Sign Language (BSL) and deaf awareness course, specifically aimed at organisations.

All the courses are delivered by people who are deaf or have hearing loss for first experiential learning.

1. BSL for beginners course

Staff will benefit from flexible learning by using a range of informal clips, receptive practice, short quizzes and vocabulary.

This course will give your staff the confidence and skills they need to communicate effectively with deaf customers.

Hosted on the Signature Learning Hub, the course has been designed so employees can study at their own pace. Progress will be logged, and sections can be revisited at any time.

2. Deaf awareness training course

Improve communication skills and confidence when speaking to deaf people and those with hearing loss.

“The deaf awareness session (delivered remotely) was interesting, engaging and ran seamlessly. Any preconceptions that anyone may have had about deaf people or people with hearing loss must have been eliminated within minutes; it’s really quite powerful.”

Beth Kevill – TrustPilot

Training is delivered via Zoom or Teams and is suitable for up to 16 delegates. The course duration is 2 hours.

3. BSL taster course

Delegates will learn some basic signs to use with colleagues and customers whose first or preferred language is BSL.

“A fantastic taster session to BSL for a staff team day. Everything was straightforward to organise right from the start and our trainer provided a fantastic session via Zoom. Highly recommended.”

Victim Support

Training is delivered via Zoom and is suitable for up to 10 delegates. The course duration is 1 hour.
