Influence Government to make life more accessible for your deaf constituents

1 in 3 adults in the UK – including your constituents – are deaf or have hearing loss. 67% of them often feel excluded from many aspects of public life.

Help change this as a parliamentary representative by using your voice to address the issues which matter to our communities, and by being deaf aware when engaging with your constituents.

What your deaf constituents want

As voters in Wales and Scotland prepare to head to the polls on 7 May 2026, our Loud and Clear manifestos outline the policy changes needed to make the biggest positive difference for people who are deaf or have hearing loss.

Our six policy asks for the Welsh Government

  1. Ensure equal access to the NHS for deaf people and people with hearing loss
  2. Modernise and invest in audiology services to support early intervention and diagnosis of hearing loss
  3. Create a Disability Information Hub to support employers looking to recruit and retain deaf and disabled staff
  4. Ensure all employment support services across Wales used by deaf people and people with hearing loss are tailored to their needs
  5. Implement the BSL Wales Bill and ensure Deaf BSL users in Wales have equal access to public services
  6. Work with the deaf community, BSL users and people with hearing loss in Wales to break down barriers in everyday life

Our four policy asks for the Scottish Government

  1. Ensure consistent access to quality audiology services across the NHS
  2. Ensure equal access to the NHS for deaf people and people with hearing loss
  3. Guarantee equal opportunities in the workplace
  4. Work with the British Sign  Language community to transform their life chances

Being deaf aware
