Our research panel is a group of people with lived experience that takes part in our research on a regular basis. They inform our work by helping us find out more about the experiences of deaf people and those with hearing loss or tinnitus.

Who can join
Anyone with lived experience of being deaf, having hearing loss or tinnitus is welcome! We’re particularly interested in hearing from deaf BSL users.
Families and friends of people with lived experience might also be asked to take part from time to time. You can share those opportunities with your wider network.
What you’ll be asked to do
If you join the panel, you’ll receive a monthly email of new research opportunities. You can choose which and how many to do. Please note that we may send more than one email a month, if time sensitive research opportunities arise.
The research opportunities include:
- Testing RNID products and services, such as the hearing check
- Completing user surveys and taking part in interviews
- Sharing your opinions and experiences towards our campaigning work, such as the Subtitle It! campaign
- Improving accessibility features by sharing your user experience for new apps, products and services of companies working with RNID
- Opportunities from external bodies we think you might be interested in.
We’ll also share research results and what actions we plan to take. All we ask is for panel members to commit to contributing on a regular basis.

RNID will send emails to panel members using a third-party email provider, further information is available in our privacy policy.
We use a third-party provider to run our surveys and store survey data. Your responses will remain anonymous and you will not be identified in any reporting or publication of results. Any data collected through the provider may be transferred outside of the UK and EU but will be kept securely and will only be used for our own research purposes. We will hold your personal data while you wish to remain on the Research Panel.
You have the right to withdraw your consent for us to hold and use your information for the purposes of the Research Panel at any time.
If you no longer wish to be a member of our Research Panel, please contact us at [email protected] or call RNID’s Contact Centre on 0808 808 0123. We will remove your details from our panel database within 7 working days.
