On Sunday 3 and Thursday 7 May 2026, Brit Award-winning and Grammy®-nominated singer-songwriter KT Tunstall will present an appeal on BBC Radio 4 to help raise funds for RNID.

KT shares how single-sided hearing loss struck her at a pivotal point in her career and left her struggling to follow conversation. She was meant to be having the time of her life, but instead she faced a future she never imagined.

During the appeal, KT will introduce you to Charlotte. Charlotte was diagnosed with severe hearing loss in their childhood and faced years of bullying. Growing up they felt invisible, isolated, and just wanted to fit in.

Storyteller, Charlotte smiling at the camera

Charlotte is now an adult, living in a world that does not fully include deaf people and those with hearing loss or tinnitus. They regularly miss vital information and find social situations overwhelming. This has impacted their confidence and independence.

Your generosity today could help provide support that transforms someone’s life and helps them reconnect with the people around them.

The BBC is not currently taking donations for this appeal, but you can still give directly to the appeal via RNID by clicking the ‘donate now’ button.

How your support helps

For a deaf person in a hearing world, every day’s a challenge.

Our confidential and accessible helpline, Contact RNID, offers free information and emotional support over the phone and online to those in need.

We also run local in-person services across the UK. RNID Near You provides people with practical information, hearing aid maintenance and hearing checks. Together, these services support over 50,000 people every year.

After years of having very little support, Charlotte eventually found RNID. They contacted a local RNID Near You service and received information and support that completely transformed their life.

Your gift today will help transform another person’s life. Your generosity today could help give people access to the tools they need to be more confident, more independent and less isolated from the world.
