Old name, new purpose: why we’ve gone back to RNID

Reach for the Sky

11 December 2019

RNID Scotland has been working with Sky at their contact centre in Livingston to raise deaf awareness and is now encouraging people with hearing loss to apply to work there.

One of the aims of our Working for Change campaign is to support employers to become more confident in recruiting and retaining staff who have hearing loss.

Our team in Scotland spent time at Sky supporting staff with hearing loss to ensure they have the correct support and working environment that meets their needs. They also delivered deaf awareness sessions to other members of staff so that they understood how better to communicate with colleagues.

Sky’s application journey has been adapted to support people with hearing loss. This includes subtitled videos and extra time to complete some of the online parts. We will support you should you be invited to attend a face to face assessment.

Notes to editors

RNID is the national charity helping people living with deafness, tinnitus and hearing loss to live the life they choose. RNID enables them to take control of their lives and remove the barriers in their way, giving people support and care, developing technology and treatments, and campaigning for equality.
